"Eulogies to our Departed Birds"
Supplement #.3

An INTRODUCTION to the Eulogies to our Birds

Let it be known that just because I have not written an individual eulogy to each and every one of our departed babies, it is not meant to be construed that we loved them any less. Some of our babies died many years ago, and it is difficult to write eulogies for each one. Some of our eulogies have been lost, like "Our Eulogy to Our Mandy Jeanne."

Therefore, I have prepared a list of our babies whose Spirits have left us to go to the Spirit World.

I have written each individual eulogy to each individual bird to which our eulogy belongs... If my eulogies appear to be sensitive and dripping with emotions, it is because that Jeanne and I love each and every one of our birds just as though they were human.

The Prophet, Joseph Smith, Jr., once said that the animals also have souls and will report to the Lord Jesus Christ how each of them were treated. I want each of our departed babies to know that we love you very much and have often cried at your death, as we will now cry at your burial.

51. Anne Marie: In spite of your “temper,” which you got from your mother bird, Miss “Little Bits,” as well as her size, you were always one of my favorites. Jeanne named you after her mother, Anne Marie Schrag Rennecker. I recall the fear and anguish we felt when you hatched, because we could not see your eyes and thought that you were and would always be blind. We called Melinie LeMay who advised us that you would probably be an Albino whose eyes were clear and devoid of color, except for the reflection of the red blood cells in the retinas of your eyes. We were relieved when your eyes finally opened, and, indeed, you were an Albino with “red” eyes.

I remember that we took you and your two brothers, Amani Lynn and Jeanne Marie, over to Bud and Marie’s home. Jeanne placed the three of you into Marie’s palm. You immediately curled up into a ball and went to sleep. You were so cute as you nestled in Marie’s hand. You immediately became “Randy’s Bird,” and you remained so until your untimely death this evening. We love you, and we miss you already, but you lived longer than any of our other Albinos, such as your Great Grandmother, Marie, your Great Aunt Lucy,  Percy Arthur I, Judi-Lynn Faulk, to whom you were not related, and our little male Albino, Cari Faulk, who only lived 2 weeks after I bought him.

We were told that most Albinos do not live very long, and Marie, Lucy, Percy Arthur I, and Cari Faulk proved to be the case, but you were the exception.   We love you and miss you. Please give our love to our other babies on the other side of the Veil. May God Bless You and Keep You, Anne Marie, until we meet again.

52. Thomas S. Monson: “Tommy,” as Jeanne and I knew you and nicknamed you, were named after President Thomas S. Monson, a prophet of the Lord and our present day prophet. Jeanne bought you and Jennifer as a pair, so as not to separate you. You and your sister were wing to wing, and side by side. It was difficult to determine where one bird ended and the other began. You were separated when Jennifer died on 19 August 2007, almost 4 ½ years ago. It is our best guess that each of you suffered from tumors and cancer. Jennifer succumbed first and you followed. We loved your light teal green plumage, which is another reason that Jeanne bought the two of you.

Now you and she are together again on the other side of the Veil. We love you and miss you, but we have the consolation in knowing that you are with Jennifer and our other babies on the other side, and that we will see you and Jennifer and all of our babies whom we loved and still love. Give our love to our other babies on the other side of the Veil. May God Bless You, and Keep You, “Tommy,” until we meet again.
