QUESTION: Can Budgerigars, whether English or the American Hybrid suffer from heart attacks?

ANSWER: Yes, in addtion to tumors. We have had many English Budgerigars as well as the American Budgeigar Hybrids, which had died of either heart attacks or from tumors. Just yesterday, Sunday, 1/23/2011 we lost our 9 month old Orange Crested Lovebird, Miss Ira, to tumors. We suspected that she was suffering from tumors due to the several times that we had to trim back her upper beak, which is a sign that a bird has tumors. We have recently lost several English Budgerigars and American Budgies to heart attacks. Just 10 days ago, my wife, Jeanne, was holding Larkin II, one of our favorite male English Budgerigars in her hands, and he keeled over due to a heart attack and died in Jeanne's hands.

QUESTION: What is available, now that 'Systemajuv' is no longer available"
ANSWER: J.J. introduced me to an old Herbal Remedy that will revive an almost dead bird. She tried it on one of our birds recently, and the bird revived!

It is called "Carbo Vegetabilis 30C" which can be purchased from "Sun Harvest". "30 C" is the strength of "Carbo Vegetabilis".

QUESTION: How do I save a baby bird if it is hurt from crashing in my house with 2 hurt wings?

ANSWER: First of all, J.J. is NEITHER a Veterinarian NOR a Veterinary Nurse, but we have been raising birds for more than 16 years. The best advice that we can give you is to call a Veterinarian, especially an Avian Veterinarian in your city or town and get his/her advice.

1A.) KEEP IN MIND, YOU MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF THE LAWS OF YOUR CITY, COUNTY,
AND/OR STATE, IF YOU "HARBOR" OR OTHERWISE KEEP AND TREAT A WILD ANIMAL, INCLUDING A BIRD OR BIRDS. YOUR VETERINARIAN MAY BE ABLE TO ADVISE YOU...
IF NOT, TRYING ASKING THE QUESTION "IS IT ILLEGAL TO KEEP A WILD BIRD IN (YOUR STATE)?" ON GOOGLE.

1B.) DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK THE VETERINARIAN what he or she would recommend that you do.

2.) Please tell the Vet what kind of bird it is, and if it is weaned from the mother bird's feeding it. In other words, can it eat on its own?

3.) Are its wings broken or just bruised?

4.) Find out what to feed it and then keep it warm, while its wings heal.

5.) There may NOT be ANYTHING that you can do for the bird, but there are Holistic Ointments available that you can purchase and apply to the bird's wings.

6.) We also recommend a Holistic Pain Killer, LIKE "Baby Aspirin," to alleviate the bird's pain.

7.) It may never be able to fly and to protect itself from predators, so "putting it down" may be the best answer., BUT:
