ANSWER: First of all, J.J. is NEITHER a Veterinarian NOR a Veterinary Nurse, but we have been raising birds for more than 16 years. The best advice that we can give you is to call a Veterinarian, especially an Avian Veterinarian in your city or town and get his/her advice.
A.) KEEP IN MIND, YOU MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF THE LAWS OF YOUR CITY, COUNTY, AND/OR STATE, IF YOU "HARBOR" OR OTHERWISE KEEP AND TREAT A WILD ANIMAL, INCLUDING A BIRD OR BIRDS. YOUR VETERINARIAN MAY BE ABLE TO ADVISE YOU... IF NOT, TRYING ASKING THE QUESTION "IS IT ILLEGAL TO KEEP A WILD BIRD IN (YOUR STATE)?" ON GOOGLE.
B.) DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK THE VETERINARIAN what he or she would recommend that you do.
.) Please tell the Vet what kind of bird it is, and if it is weaned from the mother bird's feeding it. In other words, can it eat on its own?
.) Are its wings broken or just bruised?
.) Find out what to feed it and then keep it warm, while its wings heal.
.) There may NOT be ANYTHING that you can do for the bird, but there are Holistic Ointments available that you can purchase and apply to the bird's wings.
.) We also recommend a Holistic Pain Killer, LIKE "Baby Aspirin," to alleviate the bird's pain.
.) It may never be able to fly and to protect itself from predators, so "putting it down" may be the best answer., BUT:
